Konzelman Peachwine - The Perfect Summer Sip

It is finally May. The gateway to summer. Although I love all of the seasons, that transition from spring to summer always holds a certain magic. Promise of warmer weather, longer days and endless hours of sunshine. This year due to COVID-19 it has been particularly challenging. While I savour alone time, I am at heart a social person. I love nothing more than enjoying my backyard with good friends. The crackle of charcoal and sizzle of foods roasting must be one of the most satisfying sounds. Also, the smell... the air filled with aroma of bbq and the anticipation of a wonderful meal to come.
A few years ago while doing a vineyard circuit in the Niagara on the Lake region I had the pleasure of visiting Konzelman Estates. As the only lakefront winery the grounds are absolutely spectacular. The German roots of the vineyard are evidenced in the architecture of the main building. I had the most lovely experience learning so much about their approach to wine making and structured tasting of five of their wines. I walked away purchasing a few different bottles but one that has become a favorite is the peachwine.
In true summer tradition I picked up a few bottles to kick off my summer and love supporting local business when possible. The staff here are truly passionate about their wines and they offer shipping as well as curb side pick-up.
So if you are in the market for some summer sips give them a try!

We eat/drink with our eyes and the pale peach color of this wine is a visual delight. I've used this as a base for a spritzer topping with some sparkling soda and dropped in some raspberries. This wine also works really well as a base for white sangria. Throw in some fresh peaches, pineapple, sprigs of mint. You will be in love.

This white wine is light bodied, crisp and refreshing.
-
Aroma and flavor of ripe juicy peaches.
-
It is a sweet wine but not overly so.

For a double dose of desert I have served this alongside grilled peaches with vanilla ice ice-cream. Afterall, is there such thing as too much peach? Nope, didn't think so.
